History Gems: New Podcast by Author Nicola Tallis Unravels Secrets Behind Famous Jewels and Jewellery

A new podcast delving into the history of jewellery by Tudor historian and critically acclaimed author Nicola Tallis is to launch this week.
History Gems is a weekly podcast focusing on different gems and the stories behind them, with Nicola chatting to guest authors, broadcasters and academics every week including: Tracy Borman, Kate Williams, Rebecca Rideal, Gareth Russell, Sarah Gristwood, Julian Humphrys, Susan Ronald, Ellie Woodacre, Michael Jones and Chris Naunton.
Discussing intriguing stories such as a daring attempt to steal the Crown Jewels, the secrets behind a supposedly cursed diamond, and exploring the creation of the world’s most famous Easter eggs, this is a fascinating podcast for both history and jewellery lovers alike.
Dr Nicola Tallis is the author of three books: Crown of Blood: The Deadly Inheritance of Lady Jane Grey, Elizabeth’s Rival: The Tumultuous Tale of Lettice Knollys, Countess of Leicester and the latest Uncrowned Queen: The Fateful Life of Margaret Beaufort, Tudor Matriarch.

Jewels and history are both my passion, so I’m delighted to be able to combine the two in my brand-new podcast History Gems. My PhD thesis was on the subject of the jewellery collections of the Queens of England from 1445-1548, and it was this that inspired me to begin this new project. Jewels often have their own fascinating tales to tell, so in each episode I’ll be joined by an expert in order to bring these intriguing stories to you.
Podcasting is a completely new experience for me, so I’m really excited to bring these discussions to the wider world, which I hope will bring another slice of history to life for listeners.
