Buster Books, the award-winning children’s imprint of independent publisher Michael O’Mara Books, will publish Am I Made of Stardust? a second middle-grade title with award-winning scientist and BBC broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (MBE).
Dr Maggie is a space scientist who is passionate about bringing the wonder of space to a general audience. She has presented The Sky at Night (BBC Four) since 2014, and also fronted Do We Really Need The Moon?(BBC2) plus Stargazing (CBeebies) and Out of This World (CBBC), and regular slots on The One Show(BBC1).
Am I Made of Stardust? answers a myriad of children’s questions about space, from how the Universe began and how long it would take to fly to a star to what would happen if you fell into a black hole and what astronauts eat for dinner.
Written in Dr Maggie’s hugely engaging style and accompanied by incredible images from NASA and eye-popping illustrations from Chelen Ecija, this book really brings the subject of space alive for young scientists.
Am I Made of Stardust? follows Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System, which has sold 72,000 copies in the UK and US since its publication in 2019 and was a BookTrust Pick.
Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, author, said: “I love talking to kids about space and astronomy and they have so many amazing questions. I this book I have taken some of my favourites and written answers for them so they can be shared with everyone.”
Frances Evans, Managing Editor at Buster Books, said: “It’s been such a pleasure to work with Dr Maggie on her second book for kids.
