Independent publisher Michael O’Mara Books is marking Earth Day (22nd April) this year by donating £100,000 to match funding charity The Big Give, co-ordinators of the Green Match Fund, a huge fundraising drive for environmental charities running from 22nd – 29th April. Last year, the campaign raised over £1.8m for charities including Client Earth, Friends of the Earth and Surfers Against Sewage.
Michael O’Mara Books has also published two big environmental titles this year, Go Toxic Free by environmental journalist Anna Turns, and Be the Ultimate Friend of the Earth by eco expert and BBC broadcaster Lucy Siegle. Both thoroughly researched yet accessible, they encourage readers to do what they can for the planet, from replacing cleaning products that cause chemical pollution to lobbying governments and corporations to enact change.
Lesley O’Mara, Managing Director of Michael O’Mara Books, said: “We are committed to supporting environmental charities and now print a logo with a link to the charities we support on all our books to help spread the word. We are proud to be Champions of the Big Give Green Match Fund appeal this year.”
