Independent publisher Michael O’Mara has created a green logo to print on the back cover of all new books to highlight the support given to environmental charities.
The charities supported include Young People’s Trust for the Environment, Surfers Against Sewage, People’s Trust for Endangered Species, The London Wildlife Trust, The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, ClientEarth, and The Bloom Association.
Earlier this year, Michael O’Mara’s children’s imprint Buster Books marked Earth Day by donating £50,000 to match funding charity The Big Give, co-ordinators of the Green Match Fund, a huge fundraising drive for environmental charities.
Buster Books has also devised an art competition for schools in partnership with Young People’s Trust for the Environment, judged by CBBC presenter Naomi Wilkinson, a competition with star illustrator Kerby Rosanes with the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, and published Guardians of the Planet (a Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge selected title) with all royalties going to Client Earth.
