The shortlists for the British Book Awards were unveiled this morning (17 March), and Am I Made of Stardust? by Maggie Aderin-Pocock has been nominated for the Children’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year.
Am I Made of Stardust? was published by Michael O’Mara Books’ children imprint, Buster Books, last September.
Author, space scientist and Sky at Night presenter Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock has been on a whirlwind publicity tour for the book, including an event with 700 children on publication day, a panel event at Cheltenham Literature Festival with The Week Junior, and her BookTrust Represents virtual event which was attended by more than 1,350 schools across the country, inspiring children everywhere and fielding tons of great questions!
This is particularly apt since Am I Made Stardust? is made up of Dr Maggie’s favourite space questions from the 400,000 children she’s spoken to during her career so far, e.g. “what happens if you fall into a blackhole?”, “can you sing in space?” and “what does space smell like?” and many more.
Dr Maggie has also written Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System, also published by Buster Books.
Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel on 15 May 2023.
